Panaji: Tanay Ajit Prabhu of Ponda topped Goa with a score of 99.82 in the National Testing Agency (NTA) Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) session 1 results, which were declared on Monday. He had earlier scored 97.5% at the Class X examination.

Tanay said he now wishes to crack JEE and pursue engineering in the domain of space science.He completed his Class X from GVM’s A J De Almeida High School in Ponda and is now in Class XII at Smt Nelly Joildo Aguiar Higher Secondary School, Farmagudi.While his father Ajit Prabhu is an IT professional, his mother Nandita is a pharmacist.The final rank of the candidates will be released taking into consideration the best of the two NTA scores, after both sessions of the JEE (Main)-2026 examination for paper 1.NTA scores are normalised scores across multi-shift papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one shift. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each shift of examinees.The JEE Main session 1 paper was answered across the country by close to 13.6 lakh students (4.5 lakh girls and 8.6 lakh boys).It was held last month in 658 centres in 326 cities as a computer based test.
