Security reviewed ahead of Matric exam in Buxar

Buxar: Ahead of the annual secondary examination scheduled to be held from Feb 17 to 25, district magistrate (DM) Sahila and superintendent of police (SP) Shubham Arya on Monday reviewed law and order arrangements at the district registration-cum-counselling centre (DRCC) to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.According to a joint order issued by the DM and SP, the examination will be conducted in two shifts, with a total of 25,489 candidates appearing across the district. As many as 30 examination centres have been set up — 16 in Buxar and 14 in Dumraon. All centre superintendents also attended the review meeting.The DM informed that elaborate security measures have been put in place. A total of 61 static magistrates, 17 question paper distribution patrol teams, six zonal magistrates and four super-zonal magistrates have been deployed to maintain strict vigilance.Two-stage frisking will be mandatory at all examination centres. Female superintendents and invigilators will be deployed for girl candidates. The use of cellphones, smart watches, pagers and other electronic gadgets inside examination centres has been prohibited.The first shift will be conducted from 9.30am to 12.45pm and the second shift from 2pm to 5.15pm. Entry for the first shift will begin at 8.30am and close at 9am, while entry for the second shift will be allowed from 1pm to 1.30pm. No candidate will be permitted to enter after the stipulated time.Authorities have ensured comprehensive arrangements, including security deployment, traffic management, availability of fire-fighting vehicles, uninterrupted power supply, medical emergency teams and monitoring of social media platforms.Sub-divisional and police officers have been directed to conduct regular inspections of examination centres, shut nearby photocopy shops and patrol their respective super zones to prevent malpractice and ensure peaceful conduct of the examination.To maintain law and order, sub-divisional magistrates of Buxar and Dumraon, Avinash Kumar and Rakesh Kumar, respectively, have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 within a 200-metre radius of each examination centre. As per the order, assembly of more than five persons has been banned during the examination period.
