Power dept launches maintenance campaign in Banda ahead of summer

Jhansi: In view of the summer season ahead, the electricity department in Banda has launched on proactive basis a maintenance campaign month starting from Feb 15 to March 14.Sharing details, chief engineer (Distribution) of Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitaratan Nigam Ltd, Banda Arvind Nayak said that the campaign is aimed to ensure an uninterrupted and continuous power supply to consumers during the upcoming summer season.The official said that under the campaign, 107 electrical substations, 1,379 distribution transformers, and 353 lines have been identified for maintenance and repair work across all 4 distribution divisions under the Banda region. Additionally, 123 power transformers, 246 11-KV VCBs, and 343 0.4-KV lines, along with 139 protection-related works, have also been marked for the checking.“The selected works are scheduled to be carried out during the maintenance month to prevent disruption to electricity supply due to transformer and line breakdowns during the upcoming summer season. After completion of the work, if any transformer gets damaged or the supply of any line is disrupted, responsibility would be fixed on the concerned area officer”, Nayak said.During the maintenance month, pruning and cleaning of tree branches near the lines will be carried out, along with replacement of damaged insulators and replenishment of oil shortages in transformers.
