Surat: A huge number of people gathered in the Singanpor area, while police were re-constructing history-sheeter Chirag Goti’s alleged crime. More than 2,000 people followed the police during the reconstruction and shouted for strict punishment for Goti, videos purportedly showing him torture people have gone viral across the state over the past week.Singanpor police booked Goti in July 2025 for criminal intimidation. Goti allegedly threatened to kill Kishor Miyani. Kishor is the brother of Alpesh Miyani, in whose car Goti allegedly planted mephedrone.After Singanpor police arrested Goti on Monday, he was taken for reconstruction of the crime. As police were apprehensive of a crowd gathering, special operations group (SOG) along with the DCP, police inspectors and sub-inspectors, reached the spot. More than 2,000 people gathered at the site, shouting slogans against Goti and demanding strict action.Due to the large number of people, there was tension in the area for a couple of hours. People came with firecrackers, abusing Goti publicly for his alleged actions. Goti has more than 10 FIRs registered against him with Katargam, Singanpor, Chowk Bazaar and Kamrej police. He is accused of crimes such as extortion, criminal intimidation and abduction.
