Amit Shah to chair national cooperative summit in Gandhinagar on February 17

Gandhinagar: Projects worth over Rs 250 crore of various cooperative institutions will be inaugurated, as Union cooperation minister Amit Shah will chair a meeting of ministers and officials of cooperation departments of all states and Union territories in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.State cooperation minister Jitu Vaghani said on Monday that reports of best practices by cooperative bodies from across the country will also be released at the meeting. He added that there will be a special presentation on the ‘Co-operation Among Cooperatives’ initiative being implemented in Gujarat.Vaghani said the meeting will primarily focus on reviewing the establishment of 2 lakh new MPACS (multipurpose primary agriculture credit societies), dairy and fisheries cooperatives across the country, constructing modern warehouses under the world’s largest grain storage plan, addressing the economic viability of cooperative sugar mills, resolving challenges faced by cooperative banks, and discussing important topics such as the National Cooperative Database and the computerisation of institutions.
