Ahmedabad: A woman from Chandkheda attempted to end her life over her daughter’s love affair with a youth she met online. A team from the Abhayam women’s helpline was called by police investigators and the woman’s brother to counsel the woman and the daughter.“While the woman’s daughter is 19 years old, and the youth is 20 years old. He is not of marriageable age, and the woman asked her daughter to focus on her career,” said a counsellor.When the daughter kept meeting the youth, the woman took an extreme step. “The girl was asked to call the youth on the spot and clarify whether he was serious about marrying her. When he did not arrive, the girl realized that she could not bank on him and agreed to focus on her career and take care of her mother,” said a counsellor. tnn
