Lucknow: Lucknow University (LU) will designate select affiliated colleges in Hardoi, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, and Lakhimpur Kheri as research centres to allow PhD scholars to conduct research at their local colleges instead of travelling to the main campus in the state capital.LU will provide email IDs to scholars to access databases containing journals and research papers. This will help students carry out their research work using the university’s resources from their respective districts.
Most colleges currently lack well-equipped laboratories. While undergraduate and postgraduate students can access practical labs, these facilities are insufficient for PhD or postdoctoral research, forcing scholars to travel to LU for advanced experiments and research work.PhD interviews and viva examinations will now be conducted online. Faculty members will coordinate with students through digital platforms to guide their research work and review progress. The initiative aims to make research more accessible to scholars from different districts and reduce the need for travel. Scholars will access the same university resources as those on the main campus.“Designating affiliated colleges as research centres will allow PhD scholars to access university resources locally. They can conduct research, attend online viva, and stay connected with faculty without travelling to the main campus,” said LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava.
