Online cons dupe man of Rs 7.7L

Chandigarh: Cyber cons duped a senior citizen of Rs 7.75 lakh on the pretext of issuing a credit card to him. Amarpal Singh Gujral, a resident of Sector 40, Chandigarh, said he noticed an advertisement for the credit card of a local bank on Facebook, after which the accused contacted him on WhatsApp in Nov 2025. The victim said he did not share any OTP or password during this process. Although the complainant informed the bank on time, he alleged that the bank failed to protect his money. He said he made 14 calls to the branch manager and customer care, requesting that his accounts be frozen. Despite these alerts, the bank allegedly allowed three withdrawals totalling over Rs 7.7 lakh.MSID:: 128385867 413 |
