Bhubaneswar: Four people were injured after a speeding van rammed into an e-rickshaw in Badagada Brit Colony under Badagada police station limits on Saturday. Eyewitnesses said the van, moving at high speed, collided head-on with the e-rickshaw, causing severe damage.The injured included the e-rickshaw driver and three passersby. CCTV footage showed the e-rickshaw had no passengers at the time of the crash. All 4 were rushed to Capital Hospital.
Police reached the spot after being alerted by local residents and detained the van driver, whose identity police are yet to reveal. The cause of accident is being ascertained, police sources said.In Dec, a similar accident involving a heavy vehicle and a four-wheeler took place at Power House Square when the car had stopped near the red light during the early hours. The accident left onlookers in shock as a speeding truck rammed into a stationary car and pushed it for nearly 20 metres. Despite the severe damage to the vehicle, the car driver miraculously escaped with minor injuries. Both accidents involving heavy vehicles raise question about the safety of people on roads inside city.
