Udaipur: Pratapgarh district police raided a hut in a field on the Asawata-Kulthana road under Operation Chakravyuh and recovered 1.897kg illegal MD (Mephedrone) and weapons, exposing an interstate drug racket. The raid was carried out by a team from Hathuniya police station under the direction of District Superintendent of Police B Aditya. Police said a modern mini setup for manufacturing drugs was operating in a hut made of cement sheets in a deserted field.Police seized the MD from the spot, with its estimated value in the international market said to be Rs 1.60 crore. Drug manufacturing equipment, including an induction cooker, mixer, heater and electronic weighing scale, was also recovered. Police cordoned off the area and arrested two accused from the spot. The duo were identified as Murad Khan Pathan (28), a resident of Asawata, Pratapgarh, and Mohammad Junaid (48), a resident of Mehsana, Gujarat.During interrogation, police said the accused revealed they had been preparing drugs there for the past two days. Police said Jeevan Anjana, a resident of Pratapgarh, and Sharik alias Jerry, a resident of Ujjain, MP, escaped in the dark, and police teams were conducting raids to search for them. Police also recovered illegal weapons during the raid. A loaded pistol and five live cartridges were found in the possession of main accused Murad Khan, police said. Police also took custody of a motorcycle and a car used in smuggling. Police said Murad Khan was previously involved in serious cases, including attempt to murder and the NDPS Act.
