Four special teams to keep stray cattle away

New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has constituted special teams to keep designated stretches free of stray cattle during AI Summit.A total of 50 stretches have been identified and divided among four teams. Each team will operate in three shifts from Feb 14 to 20, carrying out an intensive stray cattle removal drive for safe and smooth traffic movement.“The summit will be held from Feb 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam, so our patrolling teams are checking these specified areas multiple times daily and shifting stray cattle to MCD’s cattle ponds and then to gaushalas,” said an official.The areas to be covered in Central zone include Mahatma Gandhi Road (South Extension to Sarai Kale Khan), Mathura Road, Lodhi Road, Oberoi flyover, Central Market, Nehru Place, Kalkaji temple, Nizamuddin Dargah, Defence Colony market, Humayun’s Tomb and India Habitat Centre.The areas under Najafgarh zone include NH-8, IGI Airport to Dhaula Kuan Ring Road, Sector 21 Dwarka (near Vivanta by Taj), Radisson Blu, Aerocity-Mahipalpur, Radisson Blu Plaza and Sector 10 Dwarka (near Welcome by ITC).The South zone areas include Ring Road (South Extension to Dhaula Kuan), Aurobindo Marg, MB Road, GK-I and GK-II, PVR Priya, Sheraton New Delhi Hotel, Hyatt Regency Delhi, Qutub Minar and PVR Anupam.The areas in City-Sadar Paharganj zone include Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, BSZ Marg, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Tilak Marg, Rajghat, Bhairon Marg and Purana Qila.“The areas and roads connected to locations where delegates will stay and places likely to be visited,” stated a circular. All zonal deputy directors of the veterinary department have been directed to deploy vehicles along with drivers and cattle-catching staff. “No leave will be sanctioned during this period.” Efforts are also being made to keep the venues free of stray dogs.
