ITLF condemns attack on spokesperson’s home, urges unity

Churachandpur: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has expressed grave concern over an attack on its spokesperson Ginza Vualzong, appealing to the public to set aside personal differences and act in accordance with the larger collective will.In a press release issued by ITLF chairman Letpu Haokip, the forum said on Friday night “unidentified miscreants attacked the residence of Ginza Vualzong located at D Phailien by pelting stones and thereafter fled the scene.”

Haokip described the continuing threats and intimidation against Vualzong and his family as “deeply alarming and wholly unacceptable,” and warned that such acts undermine unity and the collective cause.When contacted, Vualzong declined to comment, calling the incident “an act of folly.”In a social media post, he said around 1am, unidentified miscreants on a bike and a car attacked his house by pelting stones before fleeing.Police sources confirmed that youths on motorbikes pelted stones at the residence around 1am and fled. Security forces gave a chase but were unable to identify the perpetrators.The ITLF reiterated its appeal for unity, saying personal grievances must not be allowed to weaken the collective struggle.
