Waitress from East Burdwan dies in Guj

Nandanghat: A 38-year-old woman from Bengal’s East Burdwan district, working as a waitress at a restaurant in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday night. Sonamoni Bairagya, from Nasratpur in Siddepara village under Nandanghat PS limits, had moved to Ahmedabad around one-and-a-half years ago. Her body was found from a room inside the restaurant where she worked and stayed. According to family members, hotel authorities informed them that Bairagya had died by suicide.Family members have refused to believe the claim. Shefali Karmakar, Bairagya’s sister, said she could not have taken her own life adding that she believes her sister was murdered. Nandanghat police inspector-in-charge Bishwabandhu Chattaraj said Karmakar had filed a complaint on Saturday and an investigation was initiated.
