Pune: Hundreds of people from Baramati and adjoining areas on Saturday gathered at Sahyog Society, the residence of deputy chief minister Sunetra Pawar, urging her to fulfil late Ajit Pawar‘s promises.People visiting Sahyog Society, particularly on weekends, is a familiar sight in Baramati. Ajit Pawar would meet each visitor and try to resolve their issues. After succeeding Ajit Pawar as the deputy chief minister and Pune guardian minister following his death in a plane crash on Jan 28, his wife, Sunetra, continued with the practice. She met several people individually. It was her first such interaction with citizens after assuming charge as the minister.Among the visitors were some people who met Ajit Pawar for their personal work. According to them, the late NCP chief had told them to wait as he could not take some decisions because the model code of conduct was in place for the civic polls.A group of Divyangs from Pune district met Sunetra for housing. “We met Ajit Pawar on Jan 26 to request him to help Divyangs from the district to get homes through the govt quota. He assured us he would help after the code of conduct was lifted. Within two days of our meeting, the tragic plane crash happened. When we met Sunetra Vahini today (Saturday), she assured us that she would fulfil Ajit Dada’s promise,” one of the visitors said.After the meeting with citizens, Sunetra chaired a meeting with the newly elected Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members from Baramati and Indapur tehsil. Cabinet minister Dattatray Bharne and NCP (SP)’s senior member Harshvardhan Patil also attended it.
