Scuffle breaks out between two student groups during DU protest

New Delhi: A scuffle between two student groups at Delhi University’s arts faculty on Friday triggered allegations of assault and counter-allegations of violence, with both sides accusing each other of intimidation.Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) claimed that a woman journalist linked to a YouTube channel was attacked around 2pm, while covering a protest. ABVP’s Delhi state secretary Sarthak Sharma alleged that left-wing students manhandled the journalist and said some of those involved were not DU students, demanding action.

All India Students’ Association (AISA), however, alleged its members were attacked by right-wing students during a protest over new UGC regulations. AISA claimed its DU secretary Anjali was assaulted while shielding a journalist and alleged police failed to act when threats were issued outside a police station.Police said an MLC has been conducted and legal action will follow the inquiry.
