Tea vendor shot at in Fatehwadi, 3 booked

Ahmedabad: A 41-year-old tea vendor was injured after he was shot at outside his stall in Fatehwadi in the early hours of Friday. Vejalpur police registered a case of attempt to murder against three persons, including the main accused identified as Arbaaz, whose full details are yet to be ascertained.The complainant, Mudassar Pathan, a resident of Labbaik Park in Fatehwadi, is undergoing treatment at Sola Civil Hospital. In his complaint, he stated that he runs a tea stall near Ibrahim Masjid in Fatehwadi.

According to the FIR, four to five days ago, Arbaaz and two of his associates allegedly gathered near the tea stall. When Pathan and a neighbouring parlour owner, Faizan Diwan, asked them to move away, a heated argument broke out. The trio allegedly issued threats before leaving the spot.At around 1.30am on Friday, the three men returned, with Arbaaz armed with a pistol-like weapon, while the other two were carrying knives. The trio allegedly abused him and asked about Faizan, saying they would kill both of them.Police said Arbaaz allegedly fired at Pathan with intent to kill. Though Pathan tried to dodge, he sustained a bullet injury to his right foot. A second shot was allegedly fired at the tea stall. As locals began to gather, the accused fled the scene.Pathan was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital where the doctors advised surgery for the bullet injury, and his condition is stated to be stable.
