Colour-coded parking system implemented in Kachehri

Varanasi: On the initiative of the Police Commissioner, Varanasi Commissionerate, an organised and colour-coded parking system was implemented to improve the traffic movement in Kachehri area.Under the new system, parking spaces have been clearly marked, with two-wheeler parking designated within green strips and four-wheelers within yellow strips. The new parking system was was inaugurated by the Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal by affixing passes on advocates’ vehicles on Thursday.

Free vehicle parking passes are being distributed in phases to advocates registered in the Central Bar Association and the Banaras Bar Association, based on their COP numbers. According to available data, 7,637 advocates are registered in the Central Bar Association and 5,604 in the Banaras Bar Association, and they will be provided passes as per prescribed standards.Vehicles parked illegally beyond the designated system will be removed and will have to face strict action. The new system has been launched to make roads encroachment-free and smooth traffic. Within one week, the parking facility will also be implemented on the top floor of the multilevel parking to accommodate approximately 500 additional vehicles.
