Rajya Sabha MP seeks Centre’s help in getting job for Pahalgam terror attack victim’s daughter

Pune: Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni on Friday urged the Union home ministry to provide a govt job to Asawari Jagdale, daughter of Santosh Jagdale, who was killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 last year.In a letter sent to Union home minister Amit Shah, Kulkarni said that in the immediate aftermath of this unfortunate incident, the bereaved family was assured support by senior state leadership, including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy CM Eknath Shinde and late deputy CM Ajit Pawar. It was conveyed that, as part of the state govt’s commitment towards families of terror victims, compassionate govt employment would be provided to Asawari, who was also a victim of the incident, it said.“No formal communication has been conveyed by the authorities concerned despite the passage of more than nine months and repeated representations made by the family. This prolonged delay has resulted in significant emotional distress and financial hardship for the bereaved family,” she said in the letter.Kulkarni said Asawari is academically well qualified, having completed MBA in human resources management and BSc in computer science. She also possesses relevant experience in the private sector. The family was assured appointment to a class-II administrative officer post (general administration department), the letter said. “The family has now humbly requested consideration for compassionate appointment, preferably to the promised post, or alternatively to a suitable post in Pune Municipal Corporation or state govt services, subject to eligibility and suitability,” the Rajya Sabha MP added. When contacted, Vijay Thorat, deputy commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation’s general administration department, said, “We have sent a proposal to the state govt. A reply is awaited.”
