Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police are searching for a daily wage worker on the run after killing his roommate by cutting his neck with a sharp weapon late on Thursday night at Ambewadi village near Urse in Maval taluka. The Shirgaon police identified the deceased as Lokesh Nishad (38) hailing from Durg district in Chhattisgarh. Senior police inspector Vishal Patil of the Shirgaon police said the victim and the accused were from Durg district in Chhattisgarh. “They were staying in a rented room at Ambewadi near Urse. Nishad’s younger brother was also staying with them. They were working as daily wage workers,” Patil said.He said when Nishad’s brother Yashwant (30) came to the room late on Thursday night, he found the victim’s body soaked in blood. He alerted the landlord and the police. “Our team reached the spot and found that the victim’s neck was cut with a sharp weapon,” he said.Patil said Nishad’s roommate was missing since Thursday. “We registered a case of murder and are searching for him,” Patil said.
