Ferozepur: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man allegedly shot his wife and four-year-old son before attempting suicide at Bajidpur village in Ferozepur on Friday evening. Police said Jagseer Singh opened fire on his wife, Navneet Kaur, and their son, Waris Deep Singh, before turning the weapon on himself.Hearing the gunshots, villagers rushed to the house and took all three to a private hospital. Doctors said the child sustained a bullet injury to the liver, Navneet was shot in the chest, and Jagseer suffered a gunshot wound to the head. All three are stated to be critical and were later referred to a private hospital in Ludhiana. They remain on ventilator support.Police teams reached the spot soon after being alerted. The pistol used in the shooting was found lying nearby. Jagseer, a farmer with substantial landholding and a kabaddi player, is the sole caretaker of the family, especially after his brother’s death two years ago. Officers said the reason behind the shooting remains unclear.Ferozepur DSP Karan Sharma said the matter is being probed from all angles, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined. “The exact cause is yet to be established. Family members say there had been no major dispute recently. A detailed investigation is underway,” he added.
