Vande Bharat trains carry 32 lakh passengers from Gujarat in 13 months

Ahmedabad: In the 13 months of operation between Jan 1, 2025 to Jan 31, 2026, a total of 32 lakh passengers travelled by five different pairs of Vande Bharat trains operating from Gujarat.According to Western Railway, Vande Bharat Express services were the most sought because of faster, comfort-focused rail travel across key routes linked to the state.

Railway data indicated that passenger response not only remained consistent but also exceeded capacity on certain corridors. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat recorded around 140% occupancy. The Ahmedabad-Okha service maintained close to 90% occupancy, while the Sabarmati-Jodhpur Vande Bharat crossed 81%.The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat emerged as a preferred option for professionals, traders and frequent travellers, offering a time-saving connection between two major economic hubs. Railways said that passenger feedback records revealed that the train improved cleanliness, punctuality and safety standards as key factors.Onboard amenities such as ergonomic coaches, reclining seats with adequate legroom, mobile charging points and infotainment systems strengthened the premium travel proposition, railways said. Catering services with hygienic, pre-packed meals and regionally influenced menus further supported the experience, the railway stated based on the passenger feedback.
