Kanpur: District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Thursday visited Anandeshwar Temple and asked officials to ensure all arrangements were kept in order in advance for the forthcoming Mahashivratri festival, warning that negligence at any level would not be tolerated in view of the huge crowd of devotees.The DM directed municipal corporation officials to assign duty to regular sanitation workers as per the roster and ensure daily monitoring. He said a special cleaning campaign should be launched in the temple complex and surrounding roads.He instructed that strong barricades should be erected and separate queues for male and female devotees ensured to facilitate smooth movement. He also asked that clear directional sign boards be installed at prominent places.While reviewing the lighting system, he gave instructions to immediately repair faulty street lights and to make arrangements for additional temporary lighting if required. He asked officials to ensure proper parking arrangements, availability of drinking water, adequate temporary toilets and effective deployment of police force for crowd control. After meeting the temple management committee, he discussed a coordination-based action plan and said the administration and management should work in mutual coordination.He also directed that similar preparations be ensured at all major Shiva temples in the district. He said CCTV cameras, public address systems and a coordinated control room should be installed for security purposes, in which officers of the concerned departments should be present so that immediate effective action could be taken in any emergency situation.
