Owners of 10 illegal immigration centres booked

TNNLudhiana: In a major crackdown on illegal immigration networks, Khanna Police conducted simultaneous raids on 10 illegal immigration centres under Operation Prahar-2 in response to intelligence inputs. Police said the coordinated action has created panic among operators involved in sending local youth abroad through fraudulent methods.According to Khanna Police, the raids were carried out on the directions of SSP Darpan Ahluwalia. Total of 10 special police teams were formed to execute the operation across immigration centres located in the prominent Education Hub GTB Market area of Khanna. Officials said the raids were planned after intelligence gathered during Operation Prahar-2 pointed to a well-organised illegal immigration racket functioning in the region.SSP Dr Ahluwalia said preliminary investigations confirmed that all 10 centres were operating illegally, following which cases were registered against them. The owners, who are currently absconding, are being traced by special police teams. She added that certain operators were found to be working in collusion with gangsters and criminal elements, preparing fake passports and facilitating illegal migration of youth abroad. During the searches, police claimed to have recovered 30 passports, 34 computers, laptops and tablets, 15 ATM cards, and 175 cheque books, many of them pre-signed. Officials said several important documents and substantial digital data were also seized. Investigators are examining the recovered material, which, they said, points towards possible large-scale financial fraud and illegal transactions linked to the operations of these centres.Khanna Police said several victims who had been cheated by these immigration centres came forward during the raids. Their statements are being recorded, and police have assured them full legal assistance. Initial inquiries revealed that some of the accused are already facing cases in Khanna, Nawanshahr, and New Delhi. SSP Dr Ahluwalia stated that strict action will continue against those who exploit the youth.
