VMC clears roads ahead of Shivratri procession

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) began a major drive ahead of Mahashivratri to clear the route for the Shivji Ki Savari annual procession. The festival will be celebrated on Monday. VMC teams removed encroachments around Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple, Laheripura Gate, MG Road, the Gandhi Nagargruh area, Mandvi to Gendi Gate, Sursagar Lake, Raopura Main Road, Padmavati Shopping Centre and other areas. Most of these areas are on the route of the procession or witness heavy traffic due to diversions.

Besides the procession route, VMC also conducted drives to remove encroachments near Khanderao Market, Sardar Estate and Ajwa Road. The civic body also cleared bottlenecks on the internal road from Veraimata Temple to Siddhnath Talav in the Rajmahal Road area. The civic body razed illegal constructions at Ravi Park Society in Undera. Properties with unauthorized constructions or extensions in Ramdevnagar in Sayajipura were told to remove them by Friday.
