Pune: A senior woman (64) was arrested on Tuesday and mephedrone and cocaine collectively worth Rs2.6 lakh were sized from her.The Mumbai-based woman was taken into custody in Pimple Gurav late on Monday night, when she had come to deliver the drugs.Inspector Amol Nandekar of the Sangvi police said they had received a tip-off. “We laid a trap and while the woman waited for the buyer, we took her into custody along the road in Pimple Gurav,” he said.Nandekar said the police seized 11.5gm of synthetic drug mephedrone and 9.7gm of cocaine. “During questioning, the woman said a person from Malad had sent her to deliver the drugs,” he said.The woman stays on Juhu Tara Road in Mumbai, while her daughter lives abroad. “The woman is a drug addict. She said she had agreed to deliver the contraband substance to acquire more drugs for herself,” Nandekar said.The officer said the police were looking for the man who had supplied the drugs to her. “We have registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,” he added.
