TAT-S preliminary exam on April 26; registration opens Feb 18

Ahmedabad: The State Examination Board has announced that the preliminary examination for the Teacher Aptitude Test-Secondary (TAT-S) will be conducted on April 26. The notification for the mandatory eligibility test for aspiring secondary school teachers has been officially released.Online registration will remain open from Feb 18 to 27, while candidates can pay the examination fee through net banking until Feb 28. Applicants who clear the preliminary examination by securing marks above the prescribed cut-off will qualify to appear for the main examination, scheduled in June.In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the objectives of the Mission Schools of Excellence, the board has introduced a two-tier examination system to assess candidates’ teaching aptitude and subject knowledge. Eligible candidates seeking teaching positions in govt, grant-in-aid and private secondary schools across the state can apply.The preliminary exam will be an objective-type (MCQ) paper of 200 marks with a duration of 180 minutes. The first 100 marks will be common for all candidates, while the remaining 100 marks will be subject-specific. A penalty of 0.25 marks will apply for each incorrect answer. The exam will be conducted in Gujarati and English.
