2 properties of codeine racket accused seized

Varanasi: Ghazipur police attached two immovable properties worth Rs 60 lakh belonging to codeine drug racket accused Amit Singh on Tuesday. Singh is absconding.Ghazipur CO City Shekhar Sengar said Singh was named accused in FIR lodged under sections of BNS, the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and the NDPS Act with the Kotwali police of the district on Nov 24, 2025. Investigations revealed that the said two properties were purchased in the name of his wife, who does not have any known source of income. Deemed as assets purchased from crime proceeds, the two properties were attached, he added. During probe, police found that Amit Singh, resident of Bhudkuda, purchased the properties with illegal earning from narcotics trade in his wife Anita Singh’s name at Jakhniyan in Shadiyabad Tehsil. The value of the attached properties was estimated at Rs 60.35 lakh.
