Varanasi: Bhelupur police lodged FIR against operator of a marriage lawn, DJ-band and lights, after a wedding procession choked traffic on Bhagwanpur-Sudarpur road on Tuesday late night. Police swung into action after commuters alerted ACP Bhelupur Gaurav Kumar. He said on Wednesday that FIR was lodged against Vaishnavi lawn and DJ-band and light operators for encroaching road, disrupting traffic and creating noise pollution by playing DJ music at a very high volume. The ACP said despite the advisory issued on directive of police commissioner to move wedding processions only in 25% of the width of city roads, more than 75% of the road width was occupied causing road blockage and obstructing traffic, while loud music played for a long time. Bhelupur police reached the spot and cleared the jam.
