Elderly injured, 2 goats killed in gas cylinder explosion

Kanpur: An elderly man sustained severe burns and two goats died after a domestic gas cylinder exploded following gas leakage late Tuesday night in Naya Purwa hamlet under Bhiduri gram panchayat in the Chaubepur police station area of Kanpur, police said.The blast shook the room’s roof and walls. The man was sleeping inside the room at the time and suffered severe burns. Two goats tied in the room died on the spot.According to information, Ramesh Chandra, a resident of Dubiyana village in the Shivrajpur area, lived on rent in Ramu Shukla’s house in Naya Purwa. Ramesh said that late Tuesday night, he forgot to turn off the gas after cooking. This led to gas leakage in the room and a sudden explosion occurred. He was also badly burned in the accident.Police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident and admitted the injured to hospital, where his treatment is ongoing. Police are investigating the matter.Commissionerate police said through its official handle X that police immediately reached the spot after receiving information about a gas cylinder explosion. Prima facie, the explosion occurred at night due to gas not being turned off, in which one injured person is undergoing treatment and his condition is out of danger. Necessary legal action is being taken.
