Sasaram: District and sessions court in Sasaram on Wednesday sentenced two people to life imprisonment in connection with a six-year-old rape case in Rohtas district.District Judge -14 Prahlad Kumar, while delivering the sentence, awarded life imprisonment to Munna Qureshi and Iqbal Qureshi, both residents of Khurmabad village under Chenari police station area. The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on each.According to public prosecutor Laxman Rai, the incident took place on the night of Feb 18, 2020, at around 10.30pm. The rape survivor had gone near a canal on the outskirts of the village when the accused allegedly intercepted her, forcibly took her into a pickup van, and sexually assaulted her.During the course of the trial, the prosecution presented 16 witnesses before the court to substantiate the charges, following which the court found the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
