Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain has launched a high-speed administrative drive to enroll residents in a suite of “transformative” state initiatives, ranging from 10-lakh-rupee healthcare cover to free religious pilgrimages. At a review meeting on Wednesday, Jain ordered officials to accelerate the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, a universal health scheme providing Punjab families with free medical treatment at both government and empanelled private hospitals. To meet aggressive targets, the district has established 72 registration camps across all sub-divisions.“No eligible resident of Ludhiana should be left out of this healthcare initiative,” Jain said. He reminded the public that enrollment requires an Aadhaar card linked to a mobile number, a Voter ID, and birth certificates for minors.Faith and the Fight Against DrugsThe Deputy Commissioner also scrutinized the progress of the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Scheme, which provides citizens with state-funded pilgrimages to sacred sites such as Sri Harmandir Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib. Under the program, the government covers all travel, food, and lodging costs for devotees regardless of caste or income.Parallel to these social welfare schemes, Jain addressed the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign—the state’s “war on drugs.” He called for a united front, urging the public to actively support enforcement and rehabilitation efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the district.
