Ruckus in assembly as opposition accuses govt of failing to ensure public safety
In a heated session, opposition lawmakers stormed the Bihar assembly, raising their voices against a surge in rape cases and an alarming decline in public safety. Representatives from the RJD and Congress expressed their frustrations over what they described as a government attempt to shield serious criminal activities.

Patna: Opposition members created a ruckus in the Bihar legislative assembly on Tuesday over rising incidents of alleged rape and what they described as a deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state. Even before proceedings began on the sixth day of the budget session, opposition MLAs staged a protest outside the assembly building and later continued their agitation inside the House.RJD MLAs were seen raising slogans at the assembly gate, holding posters and accusing the govt of failing to ensure public safety. They shouted slogans claiming that daughters were not safe in Bihar and held the state govt responsible for the situation.

Parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary accused the opposition of being interested only in creating noise rather than listening to the govt. He alleged that the opposition was confused, which, he said, was reflected in its conduct. After some time, and following an appeal by the Speaker, the protesting MLAs returned to their seats.RJD MLA Bhai Birendra described the issue as serious and said the govt must act with utmost seriousness.Before proceedings began, Congress MLAs alleged that despite several serious incidents, including the alleged murder of a NEET student in Bihar, the govt was attempting to cover up the cases.CPI(ML) MLA Sandeep Saurabh alleged that crimes against women and children were increasing and that the govt was not taking effective action. He said the opposition sought answers in the House, but when they were not heard, members walked out in protest.Earlier, RJD MLA Anita Yadav, elected from Warisaliganj, returned to the House shortly after the walkout and raised a question related to her constituency during Question Hour.Taking a dig at her, Choudhary said a new form of walkout had been witnessed. He referred to another member who had returned after a walkout to ask a question and then left. Anita responded by saying it was their constitutional right to enter the House and raise questions.
