A British Airways crew was rushed to hospital after being “spiked” with sweets given to them by a passenger.

Three members of the cabin were hospitalised after consuming cannabis gummies.

The gummies contained up to 300mg of THC, the main psychoactive component in the drug.

Crew consumed the sweets upon their arrival at Los Angeles from London Heathrow.

The entire host of staff were then stood down – and a replacement operated the return service.

Days later, they flew back as passengers on a separate service.

BA bosses are looking for the passenger who handed the crew the drug-laced gummies.

None of the crew say they knew they were consuming spiked sweets and none face disciplinary action.

It is not uncommon for passengers to thank staff with sweets, said one source.

The insider told The Sun that the tired crew members ate the gummies while in the crew bus after touchdown.

They added: “Almost immediately, BA staff realised something was wrong.”

“By the time the group had reached the crew hotel, three staff members who had numerous sweets began suffering ‘out-of-body’ experiences.

The trio of crew members reportedly became “out of control”.

As their symptoms deteriorated, they were sent to hospital.

“Some people might find this incident funny, but it is being treated very seriously by BA,” added the source.

They continued: “If an entire crew became incapacitated at 30,000ft after ingesting deadly drugs the consequences don’t bear thinking about.

“Bosses are trying to trace the passenger who tried to get the crew high.”

They added that multiple police charges could be levelled at the flyer.

In a statement, British Airways said: “A small number of our crew reported feeling unwell at their hotel and have since recovered.

“We sent a replacement crew to operate the return flight and there was no impact on our customers.”
