Hisar: A woman from Sirsa district has filed an FIR accusing her live-in partner of rape under the pretext of marriage. Sources claimed the accused, 19-year-old Tanish Sethi, is a recipient of Prime Minister’s National Child Award. The victim also alleged mental and physical abuse, forced sexual relations, and casteist insults from Sethi and his family. Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation. The victim claimed she entered a live-in relationship with Sethi on June 25, 2024. She alleged that during the relationship, Sethi and his parents subjected her to mental and physical abuse, repeatedly forcing her into sexual relations against her will. When she complained to Sethi’s parents, they reportedly urged her to remain silent, promising marriage. The victim further claimed she was beaten and insulted with casteist slurs when she protested. Tanish Sethi was earlier honoured with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Police registered the rape case based on the victim’s complaint, and stated that an investigation was underway. Authorities did not comment on the allegations against Sethi’s family.
