Kanpur: The Chess Club of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur hosted the FIDE-Rated Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2026, sponsored by SBI GIC Ltd. The event attracted 336 players, making it one of the largest and most competitive FIDE-rated rapid chess tournaments ever organised at the institute.

After an intense day of competition, the tournament concluded with IM Anuj Shrivatri, Arnav Agrawal, IM Aaryan Varshney, IM Aaditya Dhingra and IM Dinesh K. Sharma emerging as the top five finishers. tnn
