Hoax bomb emails trigger scare at consulates in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Miscreants sent hoax emails to the consulates of Japan and the Netherlands in Bengaluru on Monday morning, prompting a swift response from police and anti-sabotage teams. Officers rushed to the Netherlands consulate in Ganganagar and the Japan consulate in Shivajinagar. After a thorough search lasting over four hours, police declared the emails to be a hoax. “The emails were sent using fake IDs. They claimed that four RDX explosives had been planted in the consulates’ washrooms. The sender identified himself as ‘Jeeva’ from Tamil Nadu and alleged that blasts would occur due to the failure of the Tamil Nadu police to register cases against influential people and politicians,” said a police officer.
