Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society (DZHMWS), in collaboration with New Socio Economic Research and Development (NSERD), organized the ‘Pahal’ Winter Relief Initiative – Blanket Distribution drive 2025-26 on 3 February at Child Guidance Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia.The initiative, aimed at providing winter relief to children with disabilities and their families, was attended by Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar and Vice President, DZHMWS, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Rizvi emphasized Jamia’s commitment to social responsibility, inclusive education, and community engagement. He highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration in advancing social welfare initiatives and reiterated the administration’s continued support for programmes that promote equity, accessibility, and the holistic development of persons with disabilities. The programme was conducted under the leadership and guidance of Prof Mazhar Asif and President of DZHMWS, whose consistent emphasis on social outreach, equity, and inclusion has provided a strong foundation for the Society’s welfare initiatives. His sustained commitment towards the empowerment and mainstreaming of persons with disabilities through policy support, academic integration, and community engagement continues to strengthen Jamia’s role in advancing inclusive development.Addressing the gathering, Shri Ravi Shanker, Assistant Commissioner of Police, New Friends Colony, underscored the importance of close cooperation between law enforcement agencies and social welfare organizations in building a safe, inclusive, and compassionate society. He appreciated the initiatives undertaken by DZHMWS and NSERD for the welfare of children with disabilities and assured continued support and collaboration from the Delhi Police in future programmes and outreach activities.Prof. Mohammad Ghazi Shahnawaz, General Secretary, DZHMWS, in his address, elaborated on the vision and long-term objectives of the Society in promoting social justice, capacity building, and inclusive growth. He emphasized the need for sustained institutional cooperation and community participation in addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. In his remarks, Dr. Mohd. Faijullah Khan, Secretary, DZHMWS, reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to strengthening support mechanisms for children with special needs and their families and expressed sincere appreciation to all dignitaries, partner organizations, donors, and volunteers for their valuable cooperation. The programme was organized under the leadership of Mohd. Kaif, Chairman, NSERD, with active participation from Shaukat H. H. Mufti, Executive Secretary, Hamdard Learning and Welfare Society, and other members of the organizing team. The event was further leveraged by the presence and participation of senior academicians, including Controller of Examinations (CoE), Deans, Directors, and esteemed members of the Governing Body of the Society, reflecting strong institutional and administrative support for the initiative.
