Bilimora businessman ends life under train

Surat: A 48-year-old businessman from Billimora, Mukesh Maru, died by suicide after jumping in front of the Lok Shakti Express near Billimora railway station in Navsari district early on Monday.According to police, the incident occurred at around 1.38am, when the train, heading towards Mumbai, was passing through the area. Maru, the owner of the well-known soap brand with manufacturing units in South Gujarat, reportedly jumped onto the up track as the train approached.Maru was a prominent businessman and a well-known figure in his community. He resided in a township in Antaliya near Billimora. Police said he arrived near the south yard of Billimora railway station late at night on a moped before taking the extreme step.The Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a case of accidental death and initiated an investigation to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide.
