Arms, ammo seized, Bihar man picked up from auto

Kolkata: Kolkata Police detective department seized six firearms and 11 rounds of ammunition from the passenger of an auto-rickshaw travelling from Gariahat towards the Eastern Bypass around 1pm on Sunday. The accused, identified as Mohammad Isteyak (38), son of Md Ali Qureshi of Baida village under Gurua Police Station in Gaya district, was intercepted on Sunday, following intelligence inputs that the weapons were being transported from Bihar and Jharkhand into Bengal, said joint CP (crime) Rupesh Kumar. The suspect had travelled to Kolkata by an overnight bus from Gaya. The suspect was intercepted by a team from DD – Anti Rowdy Section that was deployed for vehicle checks on the Rashbehari Connector under Kasba Police Station limits, focusing on small vehicles. tnn
