Tadhg Furlong could feature for Ireland in their second outing of the Six Nations against Italy on Saturday.
The Leinster tighthead resumed full training on Monday. A decision will be made regarding his availability later in the week. Andy Farrell is set to name his team for the match on Thursday.
Furlong has been out of action since injuring his calf while playing for Leinster in the Champions Cup against Bayonne last month. The 33-year-old trained with the Ireland squad in Portugal last week ahead of the Six Nations opener against France. Tom Clarkson started the game at tighthead while Finlay Bealham came off the bench.Â
Ireland trained at Clongowes Wood College on Monday with the medical team reporting no fresh injury concerns following the defeat at the Stade de France.
Ulster backrow Bryn Ward has rejoined the Ireland squad. The 21-year-old was part of the training group in Portugal. He played 80 minutes for an Ireland XV in defeat to England A at Thomond Park on Friday. His older brother Zac, who also plays for Ulster, lined out at centre for Ireland in that game.Â
