1.74L students to appear for Class 10, 12 board exams in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) will conduct the Class 10 and 12 board examinations this year for a total of 1.74 lakh students from Ahmedabad city and rural areas, marking an increase of 7,882 candidates compared to last year.To facilitate the examinations, the board has set up 20 zones across the district, covering 138 examination centres, 611 exam buildings, and 6,049 blocks.In Ahmedabad city, 95,688 students have registered for the board exams, up from 92,726 last year. The city will operate 12 zones with 69 centres, 347 exam buildings, and 3,340 blocks. Class 10 registrations stood at 54,492, marginally lower than last year’s 54,616. For Class 12, the general stream saw 33,044 registrations, an increase of 3,318 students, while the science stream recorded 8,152 candidates, up from 7,853 last year.Ahmedabad rural areas will see 78,180 students appearing for the examinations, an increase of 4,920 from last year’s 73,260 candidates. Exams in rural regions will be conducted across eight zones, 69 centres, 264 exam buildings, and 2,709 blocks. Class 10 registrations rose to 46,440, up by 420 students. The Class 12 general stream recorded 25,560 students, an increase of 3,720, while the science stream saw 6,180 candidates, up by 780 from last year.Officials said the rise in student registrations has led to a proportional increase in the number of exam buildings and blocks in both city and rural areas to ensure smooth conduct of the board examinations.
