WR GM reviews green initiatives, capacity plans at Ekta Nagar

Vadodara: Western Railway (WR) general manager Pradeep Kumar on Saturday visited Gujarat’s first ‘green railway station’ at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district and reviewed passenger amenities, safety measures and capacity augmentation plans.During the inspection, Kumar assessed cleanliness, passenger facilities and the use of eco-friendly technologies at the station, which is considered among the most modern in the state. Officials briefed him on the sustainability initiatives implemented at Ekta Nagar.Vadodara divisional railway manager Raju Bhadke said a proposal was under consideration to construct an additional loop line at Ekta Nagar to enhance train-handling capacity.He added that work was underway to install metal crash barriers on the Dabhoi–Ekta Nagar section to prevent cattle run-over incidents, a move expected to improve safety and punctuality.Bhadke also said the redevelopment of Godhra railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was completed and will be inaugurated soon, while work at Pratapnagar and Dabhoi stations was progressing.Construction of 12-metre-wide foot overbridges at Pratapnagar and Dabhoi was nearing completion. Kundela and Tilakwada stations on the section have been upgraded to ‘B’ category to improve operational efficiency.Kumar later carried out a window trailing inspection of the Ekta Nagar–Pratapnagar section to review track safety and operational practices.Interacting with officers at the Vadodara divisional office, Kumar stressed the need to prioritise safety, particularly during non-interlocking works, and called for focused efforts on capacity enhancement and business development.
