On Saturday, an argument escalated when Bibhuti attacked Khirod with bricks, leaving him injured. Khirod subsequently went to Kankadahad police station, seeking justice. However, family members alleged that police failed to act on the complaint. “They ignored our pleas and asked us to settle the matter within the family. Had they acted, my son would still be alive,” said Rashmita Sahoo, mother of the deceased. She added that on Sunday afternoon, her husband, allegedly drunk, stabbed Khirod during a fresh altercation, killing him on the spot.
