Police probe rivalry as motive for 9-year-old’s murder

Ludhiana: A board of three doctors from Ludhiana civil hospital conducted the autopsy of 9-year-old Aman, who was found murdered in the bushes, merely two kilometres away from his house in Kasabad village.Initially police suspected that the boy may have been sexually assaulted but the autopsy report did not show any visible sign of sexual assault. Police are now exploring the possibility of interpersonal rivalry as the murder motive. As per the autopsy, the child’s body bore an injury on the neck. His throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon. The cut was deep enough to damage the windpipe, causing death. Doctors observed that there was no sign of sexual assault or even struggle. Only a swab report can confirm if sexual assault. Aman went missing from outside his house on Thursday. Valuable time of two days was lost as his distraught family went from one police station to the other as no one could confirm the jurisdiction. Eventually, the family staged a protest outside the Salem Tabri police station and near Jalandhar Bypass chowk holding pictures of the child. It was then that the police informed the family that they had lodged an FIR. Hours later, the child’s body was found. The family told the police that Aman was playing outside the house when he went missing on Thursday afternoon. Police have found footage of a CCTV camera showing the boy walking behind a man.Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-I) Sameer Verma said, “Police have got CCTV camera footage showing the boy going behind a man towards the bushes, where his body was found. The footage is not clear enough to identify the man and more CCTVs are being scanned.”When asked about the autopsy, Verma said, “The police have yet to receive the autopsy report. The police are already exploring all the angles.”A murder section has been added into the FIR lodged at Salem Tabri police station.Murder Most FoulAutopsy of 9-year-old Aman conducted by a board of three doctors at Ludhiana civil hospital No visible signs of sexual assault found; only swab report can confirm conclusively Child’s throat slit with a sharp-edged weapon; injury damaged the windpipe, causing death Police now probing interpersonal rivalry as possible murder motive Aman went missing on Thursday from outside his house in Kasabad village Family lost two crucial days moving between police stations due to confusion over jurisdiction.Family staged protests outside Salem Tabri police station and Jalandhar Bypass chowk Hours after the protest, Aman’s body found in bushes around 2km from home CCTV footage shows Aman walking behind a man towards the bushes; visuals unclear Police scanning additional CCTV cameras to identify the suspect ADCP-I Sameer Verma says autopsy report awaited; all angles being explored Murder section added to FIR at Salem Tabri police station
