Gurdaspur: The police here on Saturday claimed to have busted two organised narcotics networks following the arrest of two operatives and recovery of 11 kg of heroin and Rs 5.75 lakh drug money from their possession.The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Wasim, a resident of Qasimpur, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, and Harshdeep Singh alias Harsh, a resident of Amritsar.
Apart from recovering heroin and drug money, police teams also impounded their vehicles.Aditya, senior superintendent of police, Gurdaspur, said preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused persons were indirectly in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through their handlers in India, adding that further investigation was underway.Sharing the operational details, the SSP said Harshdeep Singh alias Harsh was arrested with 8 kg heroin and Rs 3.5 lakhs drug money near village Chitti in Gurdaspur.In another operation, Aditya said, accused Mohammad Wasim was arrested at a naka near Paniyar Sugar Mill in Dina Nagar. During the search of his vehicle, a car, heroin packed in six packets, weighing 3 kg, and Rs 2.25 lakh drug money were recovered, he added.FIRs under Sections 21C and 27A of the NDPS Act were registered against the arrested accused at police station Dina Nagar and police station Dorangla, respectively, said the SSP.MSID:: 128036057 413 |
