Lucknow: To promote women’s empowerment, maternal health awareness and Indian cultural values, a ‘Matri Sanskar Samagam’ was organised in Ayodhya by Vishwamangalya Sabha, bringing together social workers, educators and members of the public to highlight the role of mothers in building a strong society. The programme focused on the importance of maternal care, value-based upbringing and women’s leadership, themes considered relevant for families and communities. Vice-chancellor of KGMU Prof Soniya Nityanand was honoured with the Saptamatrika Samman in recognition of her contribution to healthcare and education.
Vinita Mishra, Meera Singhal, Varsha Verma, Dr Laxmi Gautam, Tulika Srivastava and Jyoti Kiran, were also felicitated for contribution to their respective fields. “Mother is a child’s first teacher, shaping values, sensitivity and responsibility. Improving maternal health, women’s education and leadership is essential for building a progressive society,” Prof Soniya Nityanand said.
