Chandigarh: Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria held a Samaadhaan Shivir at Guru Dronacharya Stadium in Dadumajra Saturday to hear grievances of residents from Dhanas and Dadumajra, signalling the administration’s push for more citizen-centric and accountable governance. This was the first such shivir organised by the Chandigarh administration. Chief secretary H Rajesh Prasad and senior officers from all departments were present.
Residents raised issues related to civic amenities, sanitation, water and electricity supply, roads, lighting, housing, health services, education, social welfare schemes, solid waste management, and other service-delivery concerns. Department officials provided on-the-spot updates, clarified queries and outlined steps taken or proposed. Of the 76 grievances received, 40 were heard by the administrator in person. Directions were issued for time-bound redressal.Kataria said similar shivirs will be held every month across different city locations, particularly in colonies, to enable direct interaction between residents and the administration.Lok Samadhan grievance system launched: During the event, the administrator also launched Lok Samadhan, the UT’s unified online grievance monitoring system. The portal — loksamadhan.chd.gov.in — allows citizens to file and track complaints digitally without visiting government offices.Grievances can be submitted after OTP-based mobile registration, following which an acknowledgement and unique grievance number are sent via SMS for real-time tracking. The platform provides a centralised mechanism for receiving, processing and monitoring complaints across departments, with defined timelines and streamlined inter-departmental coordination. Officials said the system is expected to improve transparency, accountability and service delivery efficiency.
