Patna: A man allegedly beat his father to death with a stick over a domestic dispute at Kurji Kothiya locality under Digha police station area of Patna on Friday night. The deceased, identified as Mohd Jumman (60) of Biharsharif, lived with his family in a rented house in Kurji and earned his livelihood by running a vegetable shop.According to police, the incident occurred when an argument broke out between the father and son over a domestic issue. In a fit of rage, the accused, Mohd Khalid alias Golu, repeatedly struck his father on the head with a stick. Jumman succumbed to his injuries before family members could arrange medical help. After receiving information on Saturday morning, a police team led by Digha SHO Sanjeev Kumar reached the spot and arrested Khalid. The stick used in the assault was also recovered.
Sub-divisional police officer-II (law & order) Divyanjali Jaiswal said prima facie the case appears to be a murder arising from a domestic dispute. “The accused is under interrogation, and all persons present there are being questioned. Technical investigations are in progress. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team has collected evidence from the spot. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further legal proceedings are underway,” she said.
