How tough a job loss can be? Well enough to turn life upside down, especially when someone has just started building a career. Something similar happened to a 22-year-old IT professional, who shared his life struggle on his Reddit account. Finding another job has allegedly been made harder by the treatment he says he is receiving at home by his own parents. In a Reddit post that has drawn attention online, an anonymous user claimed that after losing his ₹95,000-a-month job, he was taunted by his parents and made to feel like a burden. From earning ₹95,000 a month to struggling to find a jobThe anonymous user, wrote,“Pata hai aaj kya hua. I 22 (M), graduated with a job in IT and got laid off after 6 months. Salary was good, about 95k as I’m from a T3 college.”The young man said he had graduated from a tier-three college and secured a job in the IT sector. His monthly salary was around ₹95,000, but was laid off just six months after starting work. As per his post, he had been without an income for two months. Now he was struggling to find another. He shared details of his financial difficulties and the emotional toll of being unemployed, saying he had turned to the online platform because he had nowhere else to share his pain.

But what made the situation painful, he claimed, was the change in his family’s behaviour after he was laid off.“Now I am not making a penny for 2 months, they’ve been treating me like I am a burden to them, went through taunts and name calling as ‘freeloader’ for the past month. Didn’t say a word, they took away my air cooler saying we are feeling hot, you can manage. Dragged my bike without petrol for about 3 km and still no money for petrol.”He alleged that his parents took away his air cooler, telling him they were feeling hot and that he could manage without it. Now that reads really sad.‘They took food from my plate’. Now this was one of the most distressing incidents he mentioned in the post. The 22-year-old claimed that his parents took food away from his plate and questioned his usefulness to the family.“The worst happened when they took food from my plate and said what’s your use, shayad galti hi kardi terko paida karke. I was looking for a job for a night guard duty where I can actually prepare for my interviews in the future. But it seems like luck turned it’s back on me.”He further claimed that he had not eaten anything for two days and that nobody at home had asked whether he wanted food.
