Patna: A special sales tax department team raided a cloth showroom in Motijheel area of Muzaffarpur on Saturday afternoon. The operation, which started around 2 pm, targeted suspected tax evasion involving a large sum of money in unbilled stock, especially new arrivals for Holi.Sources said complaints highlighted mismatches in turnover and tax data, causing significant govt revenue loss. Officials sealed the showroom, confiscated employees’ cellphones, and are scrutinising computers, billing systems, stock registers, and warehouse inventory across all floors. Following the action, several other major clothing dealers in the city hurriedly closed shops, fearing similar action.
